MY RED NOSE: ART AGAINST ANTISEMITISM

Lately, we are increasingly confronted with disturbing news:
the number of antisemitic incidents in Europe and the United States has reached a historic high.
In 2023 alone, Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office registered over five thousand such crimes, and preliminary data for 2024 indicates that the situation remains critical.
After the events of October 7, 2023, a wave of hatred swept not only through the streets but also across the internet:
human rights organizations recorded thousands of threats, insults, and acts of vandalism.
According to surveys, eight out of ten European Jews report an increase in antisemitic threats, and nine out of ten regularly encounter hate online.

We are convinced: laws and resolutions alone are not enough.
We need a human dialogue that can touch hearts more deeply than any statistic.
That is why we are offering the documentary stage performance “My Red Nose”, created by the Malenki Theatre from Tel Aviv, a moving and powerful piece that resonates deeply with audiences.

The play’s author is Ilia Domanov, an actor and medical clown who has worked for fifteen years at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.
In October 2023, he found himself at the epicenter of tragic events:
he helped the wounded, spoke with doctors and patients — and even under fire — never took off his red clown nose,
a symbol of hope and humanity.
The play is based on dozens of interviews and real-life stories of people who survived the tragedy and are trying to return to life.

To hear these stories is to see the people behind the headlines,
to feel their pain and inner strength.
We believe these voices can break down prejudice and stereotypes,
reminding everyone that behind cold numbers lie real human lives.

We are proposing to organize a touring production of the staged reading of “My Red Nose.”
A small team from the Malenki Theatre will travel from Tel Aviv:

  • Ilia Domanov – author and lead performer;

  • Michael Teplitsky – director and artistic director of the theatre;

  • Nadya Melmont – producer and theatre manager – responsible for tour coordination;

  • A technical specialist – responsible for multimedia support (video and sound).

Local readers from partner organizations will join us at each location.

The preparation for the performance consists of several consecutive stages:

  1. Local readers are selected (8–10 candidates, four of whom are confirmed);

  2. 1–2 online rehearsals are held with Michael Teplitsky to analyze the text and provide stage direction;

  3. A full in-person rehearsal takes place one day before the performance, with the participation of Ilia Domanov and the full team;

  4. On the day of the event, a technical dress rehearsal is held with all multimedia elements.

Prague | 20.02.2025

The staged reading can be presented in German, Russian, or English.

To realize this important project, we are seeking financial support and partnerships.
The main cost items include:

  • Travel and accommodation for the team from Israel;

  • Rental of venues and technical equipment;

  • Fees for the Israeli team (local participants are volunteers);

  • Marketing and public relations;

  • Professional artistic translation of the play into the local language.

“My Red Nose” is more than just theatre.
It is a living testimony — capable of awakening compassion, transforming perception, and deepening understanding.
Your support will help this voice be heard loudly and clearly in Europe and America.

We would be happy to discuss any form of collaboration and answer your questions!
